Telehealth Takes Center Stage
The healthcare sector in India is riding a wave of hiring enthusiasm, with nearly half (47%) of employers planning to recruit. Yes, you read that right—a whopping 47% are eager to add new talent to their teams. Thanks to the pandemic's nudge, telehealth and a greater focus on preventive care are changing the game for job seekers and employers alike. The recent report from TeamLease EdTech unveils these trends, and it looks like cities like Delhi and Chennai are spearheading this uptick.
In Delhi, a mind-boggling 65% of employers are on the lookout for candidates, while Bangalore (56%) and Ahmedabad (48%) aren’t far behind. What's driving this frenzy? A potent mix of an aging population and an increase in chronic illnesses is amplifying the need for innovation and healthcare support.
The research associate role seems to be the star of this show. Candidates in these positions are not just supporting clinical trials, they are conducting medical research and managing critical data. If you're in the healthcare field or looking to enter, you might want to polish up that résumé.
Preventive Care is the New Reactive
Shantanu Rooj, founder and CEO of TeamLease EdTech, shares his vibrant insights: “With tech advancement, almost all sectors are undergoing massive changes, with healthcare standing out distinctly.” The pandemic has made virtual consultations and remote healthcare not just convenient but absolutely essential. Gone are the days when we only thought about healthcare when something went horribly wrong; today, people are taking a proactive stance.
However, it’s not just research associates who are in high demand. We’re seeing the emergence of specialists across several roles. In Chennai, 57% of companies seek brand management trainees who can handle marketing and strategy initiatives. Meanwhile, essential patient care roles like nursing assistants are hot commodities in Hyderabad (54%), Chandigarh (49%), and Gurugram (43%).
Then there are Medical Laboratory Technicians, the unsung heroes behind diagnostic testing. Cities like Mumbai (51%), Hyderabad (47%), and Indore (40%) are hustling to fill these positions. Given the surge in telemedicine adoption and a proactive approach to preventive healthcare, it’s easy to see why these roles matter more today than ever.
According to Rooj, candidates should beef up their skill sets—think robust technical expertise in lab techniques, data analysis, and patient care. If you’ve got any experience with diagnostic testing or clinical trial management, you may just find yourself in high demand.
